MTE 130 Metrology

3 Credit Hours • 67.5 Contact Hours (Lecture/Lab Combination)

Serves as an extension of Statics and includes the study of mechanical properties of materials and their limitations in engineering design by the study or stresses, strains, torsion forces, shear forces, and deflections placed upon these Exposes the student to the principles of dimensional metrology. Students will learn how to use common measuring instruments relating to state-of-the-art manufacturing environments. Students will also learn the importance of Quality Control, TQM, and SPC processes as they relate to manufacturing environments. Use of a coordinate measuring machine will be delivered.
